Инфо за проекта:
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Often we forget that we all prefer an information board which is accessible and has less text in a big font. We tend to think that we are adjusting space only for people with disabilities, but new concepts such as universal design is focusing on accessibility for all people. Universal design refers to broad-spectrum ideas intended to produce buildings, products and environments that are inherently accessible to older people, people with disabilities and also pleasant for people without them.
You will spend this training in the company of 12 youth workers from 7 different countries, aged from 20 to 35. There will also be a trainer, two representatives of the Idrija Youth Center team and an accompanying person from the Lithuanian team.
What are you going to gain from this training?
– get a new perspective about inclusion and people with special needs
– get information about inclusion, accessibility and special needs
– share your experiences from the field and get to know about the others’
– experience the life of people with special needs
– experience sharing your knowledge with the local community
– participate in upgrading the booklet about working with youth with special needs
– get involved in a small guerrilla action in the local environment
– get some motivation to work in this field back home
– meet other people who you can work with in this field in the future
Topics and program
Through the project we want to encourage you to think about accessibility in a broader sense. We will also address the topics of inclusion, tolerance and possibilities of people with and without disabilities.
The first part of the training will be devoted to discovering and sharing our own perceptions of these concepts, ways of thinking about tolerance and other people.
We will continue by putting ourselves in the shoes of the people who live with a disability and evaluate accessibility of the local infrastructure. We will also collect opinions from the locals about differences, universal accessibility, the term of the disabled-friendly municipality.
There will also be a chance to see and experience an example of good practice and get to know the concept of social entrepreneurship in Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital city.
We will use our imagination and take on a small guerrilla action in order to promote inclusion and we will upgrade the booklet about current possibilities for people with disabilities in the local area.
Accommodation (Hostel Idrija)
